Tennessee Electric Motor Company has been a leader in the application and service of variable frequency drives since the original SCR controlled devices of the 70’s. During the technological changes in the industry, these drives have been referred to by many different names such as, variable frequency drive, AFD, ASD,VSD and variable speed drive. The most common term today is Inverter or VFD.
Whatever term you use to describe this device, it’s basic function is to control the speed of a 3 phase, AC motor by converting AC to DC then chopping that signal and sending DC voltage in a simulated pulse width modulated (PWM) waveform. This allows the control of motor speed by manipulating the frequency as well as voltage output.
TEM engineering group has been responsible for the application of many projects in the Nashville area as well as across the United States. Often we engineer from the ground up drive systems for applications such as miter and flood gate controls for river and lock systems, punch presses, metal forming, pumps, air handlers, elevators as well as conveyor systems and many others.
Our ability to apply VFD’s to building automation systems goes beyond just the drive in the commercial market. We are the service organization of choice and the factory authorized service provider for manufacturers such as Yaskawa, WEG and Eaton formerly Cutler-Hammer.
We are proud to serve our customers with on-time delivery and sound engineering solutions that stand the test of time. Experience the TEM difference.
